10 Great Hobbies to Boost Your Manliness

10 Great Hobbies to Boost Your Manliness

You want to be a manly man – think Clint Eastwood – but you need to find a hobby that screams manliness. It’s far too easy to sit on the couch and watch television every night, but you should be taking up a hobby that you not only enjoy, but will also boost your manliness.

Let’s face it, everyone could use their free time a little more wisely. So, what hobbies will enhance your manliness?

Hobby #10 – Gardening

Gardening. That’s right! Some of the manliest men in the world are farmers and knowing how to garden not only shows that you are willing to take charge and get your hands dirty, but it’s a life skill that will last until your demise.

The best idea is to start with a small garden or help your wife with hers.

Hobby #9 – Woodworking

Woodworking is a great hobby if you have a little bit of space. You’ll need a workshop to be able to house all of your creations, and you may be able to get away with just a skill saw and a few other tool essentials.

Hobby #8 – Metalworking & Blacksmithing

Metalworking and blacksmithing are definitely amazing hobbies, but I recommend going to a class to get started. You’ll be working with very sharp metal, and if you’re a blacksmith, you’ll be working with extremely hot metal that can cause damage if you do not follow proper safety techniques!

Hobby #7 – Marksmanship & Hunting

Hunting isn’t for everyone, so if you don’t want to hurt animals and don’t really like meat, skip this hobby. Marksmanship is definitely a manly sport, and you can do this without harming animals in the process.

Just get to the shooting range, set up some cans or targets, and practice your marksmanship skills!

Hobby #6 – Camping & Hiking

Being one with nature is something that men have done for thousands of years, but this is slowly fading away. You not only want to go camping and hiking but be able to survive in the wild without all of the today’s luxuries.

This may mean learning how to make a fire or learning exactly what food you can get out in the wild!

If you need some of the luxuries of home, bring some with you, but try to rough it out in a tent. Hiking is also a lot of fun, and there are a lot of trails available in virtually every area of the world.

Pay attention:

The website “All Trails” is a great place to find trails in your area!

Hobby #5 – Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is a blast, but this is also a hobby that can be very dangerous. You want first to go to an indoor climbing center, and then take a few classes on rock climbing!

Please don’t try this hobby on your own without any experience until you learn the basics.

Pay attention:

Rock climbing is an intense workout, and only the strongest of men will succeed.

Hobby #4 – Fishing

Fishing is a great way to kick back and relax. You can find fishing boats for rent, or you can buy your own. If you don’t want to go out on the water, you can fish off of a lake or a river!

The great thing about fishing is that it’s also meditative in a way because you’re allowed to relax and “be one” with the environment and nature.

And fishing is a very affordable sport!

All you need is your pole and some basic bait to help you get started. You can do this with your kids, friends or by yourself without anyone thinking twice about it.

Hobby #3 – Manly Sports

Sports are not only a great pastime but will also provide you with many health benefits and make you look manly at the same time. There are plenty of manly sports to choose from:

  • Soccer
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Rugby

There are plenty more that aren’t on this list, so go out and give a few a try. You will quickly discover which one is the best for you!

Hobby #2 – Martial Arts

Martial arts are a great way to teach you self-discipline and also, help you forge your body. You’ll learn how to concentrate and become fit at the same time.

This an amazing way to show your manliness, and you don’t have to be in the UFC to be a martial artist. There are several different forms of martial arts, including:

  • Aikido
  • Brazilian jujitsu
  • Karate
  • Tae Kwon Do
  • Krav Maga

There are many different disciplines of martial arts available, and there is a list of the vast majority of them somewhere on Wikipedia!

Hobby #1 – Archery

Archery is a fantastic sport, and I recommend starting with a beginner’s bow at first. You’ll find those that cost several hundreds of dollars but don’t let this stop you from jump-starting a new hobby.

Start with a modest bow, and work your way up from there!

You don’t have to take an archery class if you don’t want to, but it definitely helps you learn the proper technique and form.

There are a lot of great resources online for archery, such as – “Archery 360” website.
