Happily-ever-after takes more than one date, and you will both be sizing each other up to see if you have chemistry and similar communication. If things progress from certain cues on the first date, and there’s a date two, then you will be on your way to a boyfriend.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for these 14 sure-fire signs that your date really likes you:
1. He picks up the check.
A man will let a woman he doesn’t care about split the check, no problem. But a lot of men will pick up the tab and leave a fat tip if he really wants to impress a woman. If you are both in college and he is on a shoestring budget, this doesn’t always apply.
2. You have interstellar communication.
The conversation flows and neither of you have a look of terror on your face.
3. The windows to the soul are very present.
If your date has pupils that are getting bigger, it is a sign of attraction. This doesn’t happen consciously, rather subconsciously. Low light also makes pupils dilate, so keep this in mind.
4. Good eye contact is prevalent.
Eyes softening and holding your gaze for longer periods of time is another gauge of attraction.
5. His chest is out.
Men keep good posture with their chest out like a peacock. He may also touch his stomach and chest. If a man shows signs of being shy, his body will still face you even if he turns his face away.
6. Your bodies gravitate toward each other like magnets on a refrigerator.
Opposite polarities influence both of you to lean in, and your similarities and attraction keep you like sticky glue together.
7. Your bodies are like mirrors.
Your physical movements mimic each other. You touch your face and his body follows. If you touch your arm, he may also watch your body like a hawk watches its prey.
8. You feel rapport.
There is a sense of harmony in your connection verbally and with body language. This date just feels easy and flowing.
9. His eyes are smiling.
Smiling reduces stress and when the muscles around his eyes engage, and you can see the smile in his eyes. A real smile is not only when the corners of his mouth turn up. Think the opposite of most of your classmate’s cheesy third grade pictures.
10. He talks about future plans with you.
He says things like “We could really have fun white water rafting together,” or “I go to a great music festival every summer, maybe we can go together?” This shows you that he is thinking about the possibility of spending more time with you.
11. He tells you he is smitten.
This is a dead giveaway.
12. Your date is not a conversation bulldozer.
Your date gives you plenty of room to share yourself with your words and not take over the conversation.
