20 Cross River lawmakers sacked over defection to APC

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sacked 20 members of the Cross River State House of Assembly following their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC)

This is after a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/975/2021, was instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the lawmakers over their defection.

The court, in a judgement that was delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, on Monday, held that the lawmakers, having abandoned the political party that sponsored them to power, ought to vacate their seats.

It would be recalled that the lawmakers alongside the state governor, Ben Ayade, dumped the PDP for the APC.
