Akpabio Urges Men To Step Aside For Women In Politics

The president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, asserts that men should occasionally think about making room for women in politics.

On Wednesday in Abuja, Akpabio gave a speech at an international symposium on women in government.

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) organised the conference.

The number of women in the upper house of congress, according to the senate president, is uninspiring.

“Despite my desire to see more women elected to the national assembly as senators and representatives, I still feel that it is easier to get more women into appointive offices than into elective positions in our current political space,” he said.
