Popular comedian, Alibaba has joined other artistes in the entertainment industry in the campaign against Gender based violence organised by the Women Arise initiative.
According to him, women are not the only victims of violence. “When you check the ratio of the number of people that getsviolated and who suffer violence from records that have been available to everybody, you will see that nearly like 86-87% are women so they are more in number. But this is not really about women, this is about awareness. The awareness is for everyone, for men, for women, for children and for people in authority”, he said.
Furthermore, he stated that children should also have the orientation that women should not be beaten or violated. “We can help to bring up the children to appreciate women because it is when somebody’s mind does not appreciate the fact that the woman needs to be treated with care and not to be violated or does not need to suffer violence from anybody that violence occurs “, he added.
Renowned movie director, Tunde Keleni commending the organisers for making him one of the ambassadors, stated that young persons should not be violated or maltreated. “The wealth of a nation is not measured by the number of oil fields nor by the gas deposits, it is measured by the welfare of its young people who are our investment for the future. Nothing must disrupt their development, otherwise it’s not good for the country at all”, he added.
