over the alleged defilement and mysterious death of a 14-year-old girl, Amarachi Iwunze, in the Umuduruewuewuru, Umuezeala Nsu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state, set fire to a recently built house owned by a suspected internet scammer, Ifeanyi Osuji.
The 22-year-old suspect, who is currently on the run, allegedly raped the adolescent to death in his own home, according to sources.
The teenager’s lifeless body, according to community sources, was soiled with sperm when it was discovered in the suspect’s room on Sunday, June 12.
According to a source, the suspect was able to flee when his mother raised an alert, which drew locals and indigenes to the location.
Enraged adolescents invaded the suspect’s residence on Monday morning, June 13, after the teen’s death and set it on fire. Mr Okechukwu Oguowere, the community’s Deputy PG, alleged the teenager was murdered for ritual purposes.
Mr Oguowere further revealed that the deceased’s cousin, Uche Iwunze, was caught and handed over to the police for questioning.
He claimed that Uche Iwunze is the fleeing suspect’s apprentice, and that the two intended to use the girl in a money ritual.
The Publicity Secretary of Umuezeala Nsu Youth Organisation, Nathan Onyenehido, who confirmed the incident, stated that the suspect’s mother discovered the victim’s corpse in her son’s room on Sunday.
“Little Amarachi Iwunze from Umuduruewuru, Umuezeala Nsu Autonomous Community in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State was raped to death on Sunday 12th June, 2022 by one Ifeanyi Osuji, a suspected Yahoo plus boy/ ritualist from Agbaghara Nsu Autonomous Community in Ehime Mbano LGA Area of Imo State,” Onyenehido narrated.
“The ugly news came late hours of yesterday when the mother of the suspect unlocked a room and found the dead body of little Amarachi lying lifeless. On raising the alarm, it was discovered that Ifeanyi Osuji, her son, is the suspect and the killer.
“When Ifeanyi Osuji learned that his heinous conduct had been discovered, he bolted to an unknown location. He was wanted up until this point. All we want for little Amarachi is justice.”
Raymond Iwunze, the victim’s grandfather and a 79-year-old retired driver, said he was the one who looked after the adolescent after her mother died.
“Amarachi is my granddaughter,” says the narrator. The daughter of my firstborn son. I’d like the government to provide me with justice. My first son, her father, is in Lagos. “She’d been with me since her mother, my daughter-in-law, died,” he explained.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Micheal Abattam, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation had commenced.
