An internal crisis within the All Progressives Congress, APC over the direction of the party has burst out with the national chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu taking position against those he perceived as Obidients within the party leadership.
. reports that the group of young Turks supposedly dubbed as Obidients including Southern and Northern party officials are, however, accusing the chairman of carrying on his bitterness over his failure to foist Senator Ahmad Lawan as the presidential candidate of the party.
The crisis it was gathered has distilled to the control of the agents’ data portal at the Independent National Commission, INEC.
It was gathered that the national chairman had written INEC to change the passcodes to the portal without the knowledge of the key officials in the National Organising Department of the party which the chairman it was alleged to be the hotbed of Obidients.
However, a senior party official contacted on the development on Friday downplayed the crisis asserting that it was a carryover of the division between most of the National Working Committee, NWC members of the party and the national chairman over the proposal to push Senator Lawan as presidential candidate.
As a source said:
“There will always be politics and that is what is playing out. You know when the issue of Ahmad Lawan came out some people took position against it and since then the wound has not completely healed and that is what you see happening now.
“The issues about the passcodes have been settled and there is no crisis about that,” a senior party official among those alleged to be Obidient in the top leadership of the APC said.
