An investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo is asking the Nigeria Army for the evidence of arrests of the officers arrested in respect of a viral video where they threatened to rape women in Delta for killing their colleague.

The Nigerian Army had in a statement confirmed their arrest at 9 Brigade Ikeja Military Cantonment Lagos State yesterday adding that investigation is ongoing over the matter as well.

Soyombo who was unraveled the wroth in the Nigeria Correctional Center, Ikoyi and the Psychiatric Hospital in Yaba is basing his argument o precedence.

Reacting to the statement via his Twiter handle, Soyombo asked: “Where is evidence of arrest? And arresting abusive soldiers has never been the problem, it’s disciplining and prosecuting them. The Army has a history of covering up its errant officers, so one PR post on Twitter doesn’t offer enough guarantees!”

He further stated that a classic example is the issue of soldiers who tortured a civilian in Mararaba in 2015, and the Army promised to hand them over to the NHRC, but never did.

Is this beast a soldier or a member of the Nig. version of MS13 or the Bloods & the Crips. Threateing to rape those he is meant to protect is unacceptable. This animal has brought nothing but shame to the Army and to his nation. He should be court-martialled! COAS over to you! pic.twitter.com/M2ZkmMlUW6
