La Liga league leaders, Atletico Madrid has announced that it’s Portuguese forward Joao Felix has reportedly tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 virus, making him the 3rd player in their squad to have tested positive for the virus over the last 3 weeks.
The La Liga club released a statement on its website stating that the former Benfica striker, was currently isolating at home, “Joao Felix has tested positive for Covid-19. The striker is isolating at home, in compliance with the health authorities’ guidelines and La Liga protocols,” on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Portuguese sleeky finisher joins a couple of other team-mates in the person of Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso on the sidelines as they have all tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Belgian forward Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso both missed their side’s 4-2 win at Cadiz on Sunday, but the club’s record signing Joao Felix started at the weekend and played 60-minutes but will now be unavailable for Diego Simeone’s side next Monday at home against Celta Vigo.
Felix, who moved to Atletico from Benfica for a club-record transfer of £113m in the summer of 2020, has made 25 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side in all competitions this season, scoring nine goals.
