Lagos State Police Command have arrested a pastor, Sunday Oluemeje for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in the Akodo area of Ibeju-Lekki.

Spokesperson of the command, Stephen Kuti, confirmed the arrest of the suspect to Tribune Online on Thursday, August 18.

\”He (pastor) sent the mother to go and get the items for the deliverance when he had carnal knowledge of the girl.\” Kuti stated.

It was gathered that the pastor had lied to the victim and her mother and that he saw a very terrible vision on the teenager and lured them to a location he wanted to do \’\’deliverance\’\’ where he perpetrated the dastardly act.

According to Kuti, the suspect in his statement claimed that he was not the owner of the church, where he met the girl and her mother and that he was only invited there as a guest.

The mother of the victim, Ayomikun Eyianro, while speaking with Tribune Online, called on the police to ensure that the case is not swept under the carpet.

\”I live in Epe. Yesterday, Wednesday, I came to Okun Akodo with my 14-year-old daughter to visit my mum. There is a church beside my mother’s house here in Akodo,\” she narrated.

\”In the evening, they were having a programme and there were a lot of people. I took my daughter there to appreciate God for journey mercy from Epe to Akodo.

\”It was during the programme that he said that the pastor saw a vision on my daughter and that she will need deliverance

\”He told me to go and buy a coconut for my daughter. When he was leaving the church, he left a message that we should come to Baba Obele’s house in Akodo

\”It was in one of the rooms at Baba Obele’s house that he raped my daughter. I got information that the pastor had been staying in that house for some days

\”Now, the church is saying that they don’t know him. Baba Obele is also blaming my daughter for not raising the alarm

\”My daughter told me that the man gagged her mouth with a cloth and raped her. The police should help me to investigate the matter very well.\”

China deploys 51 warplanes and six ships around Taiwan in response to US sending nuclear stealth bombers over Pacific and Taiwan agreeing to new U.S. trade talks

Taiwan\’s defence ministry said 51 Chinese aircraft and six Chinese ships had been detected operating around Taiwan on Thursday, August 18 as China continues military activities near the island.

Out of the 51 aircrafts, 25 aircrafts crossed the Taiwan Strait\’s median line, which in normal times acts as an unofficial barrier between the two sides, or flew into Taiwan\’s air defence zone.

The move comes after the U.S. government said it will hold trade talks with Taiwan in a sign of support for the island democracy that China claims as its own territory, prompting Beijing to warn it will take action to \’safeguard its sovereignty.\’

Earlier in August, China fired missiles into the sea to intimidate Taiwan after U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi became the highest-ranking American official to visit the island in 25 years.

After the US revealed it had started new trade talks with Taiwan – the self governed island that China has vowed to reunite by all means necessary, Chinese President Xi Jinping\’s government criticized the planned talks as a violation of its stance that Taiwan has no right to foreign relations.

China warned the US not to encourage the island to try to make its de facto independence permanent, a step Beijing says would lead to war.

\’China firmly opposes this,\’ Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Shu Jueting said. She called on Washington to \’fully respect China\’s core interests.\’

Meanwhile, the US expects China to increase its military, diplomatic and economic \’coercion\’ of Taiwan, the US top envoy in East Asia Daniel Kritenbrink said on Thursday.

Daniel Kritenbrink\’s warning comes a day after Taiwain\’s military staged exercises to show its ability to resist Chinese pressure to accept Beijing\’s political control over the self-governing island, following new rounds of threatening drills from China.

\’While our policy has not changed, what has changed is Beijing\’s growing coercion,\’ Kritenbrink, who is Washington\’s top envoy for East Asian relations, told reporters on a teleconference call.

\’These actions are part of an intensified pressure campaign… to intimidate and coerce Taiwan and undermine its resilience,\’ he added.

Also on Thursday, Taiwan\’s military held a drill with missiles and cannons simulating a response to a Chinese missile attack.

Taiwan and China split in 1949 after a civil war and have no official relations but are bound by billions of dollars of trade and investment.

The United States has no diplomatic relations with Taiwan, its ninth-largest trading partner, but maintains extensive informal ties.

Solomon Buchi

Popular relationship expert, Solomon Buchi has deactivated his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

This is coming after the relationship coach was heinously dragged across various social media platforms for reportedly soliciting for funds ahead of his wedding ceremony.

The relationship coach has been trending on the social media platform, Twitter since it was revealed that he was soliciting for funds from some his female followers. A couple of netizens shared various screenshots to claim the social media influencer was in their inbox (DMs) to appeal to them about his demands.

The screenshots aired on social media after he admonished his male followers to desist from going into a relationship with ‘broke’ women. His post was followed by nefarious comments and eventually, he was dragged for hypocrisy.

Women reacted by releasing their chats where he begged them for money and for other pricey gifts.

Buchi has since received backlash for his “hypocritical” point of view.

Here is what social media users have to say.

What did Solomon Buchi do again?

Apart from his wife not being the prettiest woman in his eyes and begging women money in DM while condemning them on Twitter, anything else?

Just little things and you people want to kill him. This world.

— DISTINGUISHED Everest (@novieverest) August 18, 2022

Solomon Buchi was a feminist for the benefit of it.

\”I am pre-rich now, but I need a guitar.\”

Feminists – Awwwn.

— DISTINGUISHED Everest (@novieverest) August 18, 2022

My piece.

Solomon Buchi had been accused of begging, broke shaming and being a narcissist.

A few things:
1. Begging does not mean broke
2. When he \’broke shamed\’ he qualified the people as lazy and unwilling to work.
3. He sounds arrogant, granted, but is he a narcisssist? No.

— The Organised Designer (@Jedidiahorakpo) August 18, 2022

I just dey hear say Solomon Buchi deactivate hin accounts.

1. No too dey talk
2. Keep your relationship and love life off social media.
3. Try dey mind your business
5. No dey attempt wetin your power no fit carry
6. Fear women!

— 👨‍💻 (@DavidAfolabii) August 18, 2022

The reason why most people are dragging Solomon Buchi is because his hypocrisy stinks, It’s next level. This is someone who practically crowd fund for almost everything he owns. Yet he constantly broke same people online especially women who are his main benefactors.

— Abel (@abelpter) August 18, 2022

Solomon Buchi\’s woes started when he brought his relationship online.
Moral of the story: Keep everything that is important to you especially your love life off social media.

— Chiamaka (@Ribaaku_) August 18, 2022

Someone should write a book on the rise and fall of Solomon buchi.

“Talk is cheap, a guide to a mind of your own”

— The Public Health Consultant (@JolaosoSolomon) August 18, 2022

Some of us get flacks every week and we never run to lock our account. Solomon Buchi who likes to abuse and insult locked his account for days. Now, he has deactivated. No tough skin?

— Dr Dípò Awójídé (@OgbeniDipo) August 18, 2022

Solomon Buchi\’s main undoing was that he talked too much. Worse off was that he was talking a lot to get people\’s attention on social media; It wasn\’t based on principles. So he was bound to contradict himself and end up being an hypocrite.

— /sæməʊælfræd/ (@samoalfred) August 18, 2022

Solomon Buchi\’s story is so funny and relatable especially to most young, hustling and trying women. These broke misogynistic men come online trying to push and promote hate speech towards women but reality, most of us are doing better than them in reality. Lol! I don\’t pity him!

— 🌟🦋 (@oluwalatenda) August 18, 2022

Twitter feels very nice without solomon Buchi. Just dey disgrace that pretty lady up and down. Marriage or engagement are supposed to be so sweet and look at what this one turned his own into

— Lams (@lamideoflagos_) August 18, 2022

I hope Solomon Buchi is okay, he has mentioned something about battling with anxiety before, I hope his friends are family are with him in this times.
Hopefully he learns from all of this and becomes a better version of himself.

— ✨ (@ruththegreatest) August 18, 2022

Solomon Buchi used to be the SI unit for \”real men\” amongst feminists and women, only to be thrown into the abyss of doom by the same creatures he spent the entirety of his social media relevance to paint as harmless, tolerant, forgiving, sinless and peace-loving.

— Emem 📚 🖋 (@EmemXavierAtat) August 18, 2022

Due to the backlash from netizens, Solomon Buchi has gone ahead to deactivate his various social media platforms. A quick check on his Instagram account reveal that his page cannot be found.

See results below.

It was the second major backlash he was receiving in weeks.

The first had been after he said his fiancée, Arike Adeola, is not the most beautiful or the most intelligent woman.

\’I should have asked Taylor to visit his pitch-side monitor\’

Video Assistant Referee, Mike Dean, has admitted he was wron for not telling referee, Anthony Taylor to go to the pitchside monitor to review Cristian Romero’s hair pull on Marc Cucurella which could have led to a red card in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

Dean, who was the VAR for the controversial game at Stamford Bridge, decided against any punishment for Romero at the time.

Spurs defender Romero grabbed Chelsea wing-back Cucurella near the end of Sunday\’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge as Spurs striker Harry Kane nodded in from the resulting corner.

In his Daily Mail column, Dean admitted: \”No referee wants to be driving home from a game knowing they should have made a different call. Sometimes in hindsight, you realise you could have acted differently.

\”For the second goal by Harry Kane, I asked referee Anthony Taylor to wait while I looked at the incident involving Tottenham\’s Cristian Romero and Chelsea\’s Marc Cucurella.

\”I could not award a free-kick as VAR, but I could recommend to Taylor that he visit the referee review area to consider a possible red card. In the few seconds I had to study Romero pulling Cucurella\’s hair, I didn\’t deem it a violent act.

\”I\’ve since studied the footage, spoken to other referees and, upon reflection, I should have asked Taylor to visit his pitch-side monitor to take a look for himself. The referee on field always has the final say.

\”It goes to show that no matter how experienced you are, and I\’ve spent more than two decades as a Premier League official, you are always learning.

\”It\’s disappointing for me as this was one incident in an otherwise very good weekend from our officials.\”

Tottenham\’s first equaliser was also controversial with Chelsea claiming Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg\’s goal should have been disallowed for offside with Richarlison in goalkeeper Edouard Mendy\’s line of sight.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was also enraged that a foul was not given for a tackle by Rodrigo Bentancur on Kai Havertz in the build-up to the equaliser.

But Dean believes he was correct to allow the Danish midfielder\’s goal to stand.

He said: \”With the first equaliser for Tottenham by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. This one was relatively straightforward. I can\’t go back 44 seconds to look at Rodrigo Bentancur\’s potential foul on Kai Havertz. It is outside the attacking phase of play – the Tottenham player got a toe to the ball anyway – so that wasn\’t a factor in whether Hojbjerg\’s goal should stand.

\”The question was whether Richarlison was interfering from an offside position. When Hojbjerg\’s shot was struck, Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy had a view of the ball for me. His line of vision wasn\’t clearly blocked, so it was onside and 1-1.\”

Dean will not be in charge of VAR for the next round of Premier League fixtures after being given the weekend off following the controversial events at Chelsea.

The 54-year-old retired from on-field refereeing at the end of last season but has remained involved with the Premier League as a VAR.
