LDR's are most definitely a choice and a commitment. I couldn't help falling in love with my gf, but being 9000 miles away from each other and still deciding we wanted to be in a relationship was a choice. We have been together for 16 months tomorrow and we have only gotten to be together for 14 days when I flew to see her April 2015 after we had been dating 7 months and known each other for 19 months. It's excruciatingly hard to be away from her but I don't regret, even for a second, every moment I have known her and that she is my "home".

Hey Becky! I met a girl online in 2011 and she lived in Colorado while I was in New Mexico. New Years of 2012 I drove up through mountains, in a blizzard, for 8 hours which should have only been 4 hours. It worked out pretty well. We kept in touch through Skype, and I visited her a few times, while she visited me as well. It made our meetings a lot more passionate. She got me incentivized to go back to college. I was a loser with money, and she got fed up with that, which I understand. I wish we were still friends. You're right about the butterflies before each meeting!
