The giant stride and lofty works of late preacher and marriage counselor, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya was relived recently as a memorial service was held in her honour ten years after her demise. Her husband and senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, siblings and other clerics paid tributes to the televangelist. Pastor Abimbola Rosemary Odukoya died 10 years ago in the famous Sosoliso Airlines crash.
Bimbo’s three children, Toluwani Ijogun, Olujimi and Tobiloba Odukoya were looking radiant and they appreciated God for the legacy their mother has set for the world.
Speaking at the memorial service and launch of the book entitled, ’Glorious Legacy: The Life and Times of Bimbo Odukoya’ at the church auditorium in Ilupeju Lagos, her husband remarked that the late vibrant and dedicated woman would be remembered by her love for humanity and family success.
“If I had money I could have bought the best transporting means for her,” Pastor Taiwo said in his address. “I wrote this book using her (Bimbo) own materials. She once told me ‘I will leave before you because if you go first, everything will stop, I don’t have the strength without you. These were Bimbo’s words to me in the year 2005 before her death. Bimbo has finished her work by impacting lives with her legacies. There are certain things we don’t expect to happen because God never experiences accident but we do, nothing ever shocks Him.”
A close friend of Bimbo Odukoya, Pastor Yemisi Onanuga said Bimbo’s death made her query God. “Rosemary (Bimbo as she was called by her) is my mentor and mother in Christ and her death made me query God but he gave me an answer in the scripture and ever since I have been buying and using her books to encourage singles. Coordinator of Singles and Married Fellowship pioneered by the deceased, Pastor Kunle Osunkunle said Bimbo was courageous and impacted that into them with her teaching to singles. He cited her home life, submission as practical examples including her words which were with lots of passion. Bimbo’s first child and singer, Toluwani Ijogun ministered in songs emotionally and sonorously.
