Bruno Lage, Wolves Manager is sacked

 Wolves have sacked manager Bruno Lage with immediate effect. The German has been in charge of the club for less than six months, following the departure of Paul Lambert to Aston Villa.

Bruno Lage, Wolves Manager is sacked

Wolves have had a poor run of form since Lage took over and were defeated 2-0 at home by West Ham last weekend, leaving them in 18th place in the table going into this game against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

46-year-old Lage had taken over at Molineux from Portuguese compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo before the start of last season, guiding Wolves to 10th in the standings.

Wolves, who have won only once in their last 15 league matches, have struggled in front of goal with their three strikes this season the lowest in the top flight.

Speaking on the report of Lage’s dismissal, the Wolves Chairman, Jeff Shi said in a statement;

“Bruno is an excellent coach, a hardworking and dedicated manager, and a warm, wise and honest man,”

He spoke further;

He and his staff have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at Wolves, so it is with much sadness that we have had to make what has been a difficult decision.

“I honestly have no doubts about Bruno’s ability, and I’m sure he will succeed elsewhere, however, the team’s form and performances over the last few months mean that we have no choice but to act.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but we believe it is in the best interests of the club moving forward. We wish Bruno all the very best for his future career”
