Recall that a Liberian-American named Patrick Sawyer brought in Ebola into Nigeria. Patrick became violently ill upon arriving at the Lagos airport. He was taken to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where he was quarantined under the care of the late Adadevoh.
Patrick Sawyer, who had plans of visiting other states like Calabar and Port-Harcourt in his condition, was restricted by Dr. Stella Adadevoh, knowing fully well that he would spread the virus to any state he visits, stopped Patrick Sawyer from escaping from the hospital where he was quarantined.
In a bid to stop Mr. Sawyer, Dr. Stella Adadevoh had physical contact with him, thereby contracting the dreaded Ebola. This heroic move by her was believed to have saved the country from experiencing a wide outbreak of the deadly virus.
Two years down the line, she is remembered as President Muhammadu Buhari and many Nigerians paid tribute to the courageous woman today 19th August, marking her memorial.
