According to the Chinese Health Ministry website, their scientists have successfully decoded the genes that make up the Zika virus.
To unearth the gene code of the virus that currently hovers as a big threat over the Rio games as well as the rest of the world, the scientists used the genome from the first imported case of Zika in the country.
China had confirmed its first imported case of Zika last month, on 9th February, when a Chinese national returned after visiting South America. China has reported 10 cases of Zika so far.

If the Chinese scientists are to be believed, the Zika gene decoding might prove to be a milestone in the war against the virus.
Several cases of microcephaly and Guillain Barre syndrome have been reported around the world and there are many studies that have hinted at the correlation between the two and the Zika virus.
The decoding will further help scientists develop vaccines, antibiotics and other measures helpful in eradicating Zika.
