The battle line appears to have been drawn between locally-based artists and their counterparts outside Edo state who often enjoy more cooperate patronage to the detriment of the home based.
The home based artistes who are seeking recognition formally came together under the auspices of the Entertainment Association of Edo state, EAES, weekend, to insist that thereforth any show in the state must have 60 percent local content to encourage young and up coming acts.
The association through its President, Mr. Iselobor Airemen also known as Miyaki bemoan the little attention given to entertainment in the state and vowed to sue any show promoter who will invite artists from Lagos and other places, leaving the local artist behind.
Speaking at the unveiling and fund raising ceremony of the association where the 10 man excos was inaugurated, Mr. Iselobor urged the Edo state government of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Private individuals in the state to see entertainment as a way of creating jobs for the unemployed youths.
He said the platform made up of all genre of entertainment in the state was established “foster a bond that would channel our weakness to strength, by giving assistance to younger ones in Building a formation of pacesetters for the next generation to emulate”.
He said, “I am going to do my best to make sure we achieve our aims as a registered platform in the state. Most times when people come from other places to perform here without us I feel bad because we are not carried along.
