Last year, Falz released the politically charged video for “This Is Nigeria”, which not only went globally viral but also sparked a lawsuit from an Islamic organization, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC).

While the video essentially dis.ed the many problems of Nigeria, he is now asking us to solve our own problems by saving Nigeria in his latest single, “Talk”. With his music, Falz has defined himself as one of the few ‘woke’ musicians we have in Nigeria and this new video preaches the same gospel of social commentary. The video sees Falz as a .er in a game where the young boy .ing the game chooses to save Nigeria.

From dragging MURIC to calling out the President for his endless ‘vacations’ to London, here are some of the issues he tackled in the video:

1. The limited options Nigerians have to survive

We’ve said it countless times that living in Nigeria is a frustrating experience most of the time. This leaves Nigerians with the options to either become a part of the crappy system (“join gang”), joining the Nigerians in the diaspora who put the Nigerian flag emoji in their bios (“relocate to yankee”), or to save Nigeria.

2. The shade at MURIC

Falz’ hella problematic depiction of the Chibok girls and Fulani herdsmen got him in trouble with MURIC who sued him for Islamophobia. However, the organization withdrew their lawsuit afterwards, perhaps after seeing how extra they were being. For this, Falz drags then in the video for “Talk”, saying brother Muri talk finish, we no see am for court”.

3. The infamous EFCC club raid in 2018

In August 2018, officers of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided Club 57 in Ikoyi, looking to arrest ‘Yahoo Boys’ who were said to be carrying out fraudulent activities in the club.

4. He also dragged Nigerian senators

When they’re not getting paid for not doing anything, Nigerian senators’ favourite thing to do is to fight dirty at the House of Assembly.

5. Daddy Bubu and Nigerian politcians’ false promises

President Buhari spent a large part of his tenure on medical vacation in London. Falz is now questioning his decision to run for a second term when he wasn’t in office for almost half of his first tenure. He also dragged a major Nigerian political party for not delivering on the ‘Change’ they promised us in 2015.

6. “Slay Queens” on dating apps

Is it even a Falz song if there is no mention of slay queens? For someone who made a creepy song like “Regards To Your Mumsi”, he has such an unhealthy obsession with runs girls and slay queens.

7. Nigerian pastors and their many private jets

In the video, the singer questions why pastors buy private jets at the expense of the congregation’s tithes while throwing shade at their lavish lifestyles at the same time.

8. Jungle justice

The biggest crime Nigerian can commit is to be poor. In addition to the failed system, Nigerians on their own hate poor people, and this is why jungle justice is meted on the poor criminal while their rich counterparts walk free.

9. Honourable mentions: Lagos traffic, horrible Nigerian bosses and the ridiculous NYSC N19,800 allowance

There are thousands of things that collectively make living in Nigeria unbearable. From the traffic to greedy bosses who owe salaries to the minimum wage and he summarises some of these in the video.
