FBN Holdings Appoints Five New Directors As Otedola Takes Over

First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc has recently appointed two new non-executive directors for the holding company and three new non-executive directors for First Bank.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the appointments were announced by the company’s Secretary, Adewale Arogundade, who also updated the Nigerian Exchange Group on the recent developments within the bank.

The two new non-executive directors for FBN Holdings are Olusola Adeeyo and Viswanathan Shankar, while Remilekan Odunlami, Anil Dua, and Fatima Ali were appointed as non-executive directors for First Bank.

Before their appointments, Adeeyo was previously the Chairman of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc and is currently the Chairman of Astral Waters Limited, Shankar was the CEO of Standard Chartered Plc and is currently the CEO of Gateway Partners, while Odunlami has had experience as a director at CitiBank Nigeria Limited and FirstBank.

Dua has sat on the Board of various companies, including Dangote GSP Offshore FZE and Africa Property Development Managers Limited, and Ali is the founder of Santi Food and Beverage Limited and sits on the Board of Reconnect Health Development Initiative International, a mental health charity organization.

All five new directors’ appointments are subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

These appointments came after billionaire Femi Otedola was appointed as the new Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc in late January.



APC Group Felicitates Okotete At 40 – Lifestyle Nigeria

A leading support group of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC Alliance Network for Democracy has congratulated Hon Stella Okotete on the occasion of her 40th birthday anniversary.

In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday by the national coordinator of the group, Dr. Ozurumba Ekwesiocha, the group said Hon. Okotete is a young amazon who has distinguished herself in several fields of human endeavors.

At the local government level, Hon. Okotete was once elected Councillor in Ughelli-North Local Government Area of Delta State between 2008  and 2011.

At the state level, she was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) now known as (SDG) between 2011 and 2015.

At the Federal level, she was once the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC).

She was also nominated into the 2023 Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Transition/Inauguration Committee to head the Secretariat, Planning and Monitoring Committee.

As the Executive Director in charge of Business Development at the Nigerian Export and Import Bank (NEXIM-Bank) before her ministerial nomination in 2023 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. Okotete has promoted the application of local contents in ways and manners which have turned many manufacturers into exporters.

In all the positions she has held so far, Hon. Okotete has never been found wanting in the discharge of her official duties as she had always maintained decorum, self-respect, transparency and accountability both in her private and public conducts.

Why Nigeria Is A Disgrace To The World – Ex-Chief Of Defence, T.Y Danjuma

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered A former Chief of Defence Staff, General Theophilus Y. Danjuma, (rtd), says that Nigeria’s security challenges have made the country become a laughing stock and a disgrace to the world.

General Danjuma, while speaking at the annual Nwonyo Fishing and Cultural Festival in Ibbi Local Government Area of Taraba State on Friday, advised that urgent steps must be taken to address the security challenges facing the country.

“Nigerian authority must take urgent measures to redeem the battered image of the country by addressing the security challenges confronting the nation,” he said.

The retired General maintained that no person, especially foreigners, would be willing to come to the country to invest or visit tourist sites when their security was not guaranteed.

“No person or group of persons will want to come to our state or country if we continue to kill and butcher ourselves,” he noted.

The retired general further lamented the security challenges across Nigeria, adding that the ugly situation required immediate attention of the government.

He urged that all hands must be on deck in order to put “the right pegs in the right holes.”
