Winter is truly coming in Game of Thrones season 8 and the latest teaser for the final season proves just that.
The coming episodes of Game of Thrones season 8 will be the biggest we’ve seen from the franchise. At the end of the show’s penultimate season, things completely went sideways in the seven kingdoms with the Night King killing and resurrecting Viserion, one of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons. We also saw this zombie dragon destroy the Great Wall, the barrier between the world of the living and the Night Walkers. This came after the reveal of Jon Snow’s true heritage while he and Daenerys consummated their rather incestuous relationship.
In the new teaser, fire and ice clash in what seems to a battle in the seven kingdoms. From the north, ice takes over the land, climbing over the wolf and dragon sigil – signifying Jon Snow and Daenerys’ alliance. On the other hand, fire from the South engulfs the lion sigil of the Lannisters.
There’s so much to unpack from this short teaser which is basically a nod to the show’s first season, “A Song of Fire and Ice”. Now, this teaser is spotlighting coming events – such as an impending battle between Cersei Lannister and the Stark/Targaryen alliance. Let’s also not forget that that White Walker’s Dragon who breathes ice will possibly face off with the living Dragons who breathe fire in the coming season.
April 2019 can’t come any sooner. While we wait impatiently for at least an official trailer, watch this teaser below:
