The former Super Eagles goalkeeper in a recent interview with Hot Sports NG, opened up about his strained ties with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), that led to his forced retirement from the international scene.
The 41-year-old expressed his disappointment with the NFF, asserting that the Nigerian football governing body treated him in a manner that left him feeling disregarded.
Vincent Enyeama, when questioned about whether his unexpected exit affected the decline in the Super Eagles’ goalkeeping department, revealed,
“Honestly, I’ve distanced myself from Nigerian football since the day I stepped away. With all due respect, I felt like I was discarded after use.”
“So I intentionally created a separation between myself and the national team. I only recently started paying attention to what’s happening. However, I consciously stopped following football, particularly the national team. It was a deep hurt for me. But I’ve since moved on. I can’t speak much about the national team or their goalkeeping because I haven’t been watching.”
