Bayelsa has been governed by the PDP since 1999 while Kogi has alternated between the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), the PDP and the APC.
- The APC would go into the Kogi elections as favorite having won all 25 assembly seats in the state assembly elections last month. The PDP is favorite in Bayelsa where it won 20 of 24 assembly seats last month.
