Ace American rapper, Kanye West has reacted to losing $2 billion in 24 hours after several brands cut ties with him over anti-Semitic comments.
West’s reaction is coming a few hours after an American business magazine, Forbes announced that Kanye no longer has a place on its billionaires’ list now that his lucrative deal with Adidas is over.
It could be recalled that German sportswear giant, Adidas on Tuesday said it was ending its partnership with West after his “unacceptable, hateful and dangerous” comments.
Adidas also said it would end production of the highly successful Yeezy line designed together with West and “stop all payments to Ye and his companies”.
The brands that have cut ties with Kanye so far include Balenciaga, MRC (the entertainment studio shelved an already finished Ye documentary), his talent agency CAA, Adidas, Jaylen Brown and Aaron Donald, Foot Locker, The RealReal, T.J. Maxx, Madame Tussauds.
Reacting to the loss, the music and fashion mogul who took to his Instagram page, explained that the people are who he is, not the money.
He wrote, ”I lost 2 billion dollars in one day, and I’m still alive. This is a love speech, I still love you; God still Loves You, the money is not who I am, the people is who I am.”
Also, his school, Donda Academy, was affected as they were dropped from a high school tournament because of Kanye’s utterances.
