Nigeria has now crossed the 25000-marks of confirmed cases of COVID-19 with the announcement of an additional 566 cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the announcement made by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) via its Twiter page on Tuesday morning, Lagos has 166 new cases, followed by Oyo with 66, Delta-53, Ebonyi-43, Plateau-34, Ondo-32, FCT-26, Ogun-25, Edo-24, Imo-15, Bayelsa-13, Benue-12, Gombe-11, Kano-11, Kaduna-11, Osun-8, Nasarawa-7, Borno-5, Katsina-2, and Anambra-2.

From a total of 25,133 confirmed cases, 9,402 patients have been discharged while 573 deaths have been recorded.

COVID-19: 2,683 active cases yet to turn up for treatment

As t 27th of June, 2020, Lagos state government has revealed that 4,891 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the state between June 2 and June 27, 2020, bringing a total of confirmed cases to 10,042.

Out of the confirmed cases, 1,533 patients have since been discharged from Lagos care centers following full recovery.

It further stated that 5, 226 of the cases monitored in communities by irs response team have either fully recovered or responded positively to treatments at home while 454 of the cases are currently under isolation in public and private care centers across the state.

However, 2,683 active cases in the communities are yet to turn up for admission in care centers either due to ignorance/fear of stigmatization or preference for home care.

“As of 27th of June, 2020 numbers of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos State have risen to 128. 16 COVID-19 patients have been transferred to other states while 2 patients evacuated outside Nigeria.

The state government, therefore, urged all Lagos residents to take responsibility in the fight to stop the community spread of the deadly virus.
