Legalizing LGBTQI Doesn’t Mean They Are Coming To Molest Or Rape You Like Your Uncles Did – Sister Derby

The Ghanaian singer and model, Deborah Vanessa, popularly known as Sister Derby, has taken it out with people who advocate against the existence of an LGBTQ office in the country.

Her outburst follows calls from various people and religious entities who have opposed the opening of an LGBT office in the country, adding that her presence ignores the country’s cultural values and sanity.

But in reaction to that, Sister Derby took to Twitter on February 22, 2021 to express her displeasure.

According to the “Ghana Jollof” hitmaker, members of LGBTQ society only seek protection of their rights from the state and nothing else.

He also called the Ghanaians hypocrites; adding that most fathers cover up when their daughters are raped by family relatives, but they are quick to judge LGBTQ members.

In a severe tone on Twitter, he wrote: “Bloodclarts, legalizing #LGBTQI does not mean that they come to abuse or rape like their uncles did while their mothers protected them, that is a crime. It means that they will be protected from homophobes like you, so you can’t harm them! Let them be! Period!”

Using a similar approach, Sister Derby’s older brother Wanlov the Kuborlor ‘has also championed what he called the rights of LGBTQ society in Ghana.

For him, there are more crucial issues in the country that must be addressed and the existence of an LGBT office in Ghana is not part of them.

Meanwhile, the African Center for International Law and Accountability (ACILA) has identified that 87 percent of Ghanaians are against public gatherings of the LGBT + community in Ghana, according to their survey.
