Wike And Atiku Attend PDP Caucus Meeting – First After Presidential Election

Latest Politics updatein nigeria

Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president of nigeria, and Nyesom Wike, the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), attended the national caucus meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.

Lifestyle Nigeria reports that the meeting was held at the Bauchi governor’s lodge in the Asokoro district of Abuja, the country’s capital.

This was the first time that Abubakar and Wike had met publicly since the 2023 presidential primary election of the PDP, in which Abubakar was successful in winning the party’s presidential ticket, defeating Wike and other candidates.

After Abubakar’s victory, a group of five governors known as the G5, which included Wike’s allies Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Seyi Makinde (Oyo), demanded the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, who was then the national chairman of the party.

However, Ayu refused to resign. Later, Wike and his allies in the G5 would form a significant opposition to Atiku in the 2023 presidential election, which contributed to the defeat of the PDP in the elections.

Since then, the situation has escalated into a prolonged crisis within the party.
