Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress
The greatest fashion night is upon us again and yes, we are anticipating! The MET GALA 2022 returns after two years since the COVID pandemic. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic and also delayed in 2021.
The Costume Institute gala or simply the MET GALA is undeniably one of the most exclusive fashion night where A-List celebrities are expected to dress in iconic fashion statement outfits according to the themes of the year. It is equivalent to the OSCARS.
It began in 1948 by a renowned fashion publicist, Lambert, who started the event to raise funds for the Costume Institute and mark the opening of its annual exhibit. Elites, celebrities, sport men, fashion enthusiasts, and lovers of art convene at the New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on every first Monday of May.
The event has housed notable celebrities like Diana Ross, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Kardashians & Jenners, Pete Davidson, Late Chadwin Boseman, Lil Nas X, Rihanna, and many more.
In fact, the world awaits these people every year as they can’t but amaze us in wonderful and creative attires.
The MET GALA 2022 Theme
The GALA is known for its theme in celebration of prominent legends, history and culture. This year’s theme is titled In America: An Anthology of Fashion. And it’s based on a two-part exhibition. The second part of the exhibition will “reflect the evolution of American style”, “explore the work of individual tailors, dressmakers, and designers.” This was made known by the Costume Institute’s Head Curator, Andrew Bolton.
Part one was, In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.
The dress code for this year’s MET GALA is Gilded Glamour and White Tie. The dress code is in celebration of heroes who have pushed the envelope in the American design world. The event attendees are expected to appear in outfits inspired by period dramas of the last decades of the 19th century. That includes the use of high produced ball gowns and dresses with corsets, bustiers and puffy sleeves. The men and possibly women are expected in tailcoats, white waistcoats and white ties.
Who are we expecting at MET GALA 2022
Although the list will not be revealed until the night of the show, some prominent celebrities are expected to show at the event. Singer Rihanna, who has always graced the event with fashion statements (and understands the assignment), is expected to show with her bump. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is also expected to make an appearance. Anna Wintour has also been confirmed. Designers like Italian Pierpaolo Piccioli, designer LaQuan Smith, and others are also expected to show up with their muses.
MET GALA 2022: Host
The co-hosts for this year include Director and Actor Regina King, Filmmaker Lin-Manuel Miranda and actors Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Honorary chairs include the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, Vogue’s Anna Wintour and Designer Tom Ford.

2023 elections: APC fortunate, in control of 22 states – Adamu
Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress
The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdullahi Adamu, has stated that the ruling party is fortunate to be in control of 22 states ahead of the 2023 general elections.
This is as he promised that the party will field its finest candidates ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Adamu made the statement at the inauguration and screening of the party’s governorship, senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants in Abuja on Sunday.
The party chairman, who was represented by the Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, urged the aspirants to stick to party rules as they jostle for the APC tickets.
“We have been very fortunate as a party that we have produced the best. Today we have 22 states and at the last count before myself (Kyari) and the national chairman and one of our colleagues resigned from the Senate we had 70 senators out of 109, which is just three shy of the two-third majority needed in the Senate. Also we have almost two-third of the House of Representatives membership.
“And even after we had left we had one senator who decamped into the APC from Sokoto and we’re expecting another one from Oyo to officially cross the aisle to the APC. All of us here in the National Working Committee, on behalf of the national chairman, would like to welcome you here,” he said.
According to him, APC is a strong party that is committed to delivering the right candidates for the forthcoming elections.
The national chairman added that he has no doubt that all the aspirants assembled at Fraser Suites in Central Business District area of Abuja can achieve the feat.
“I know there’s a long, long huddle ahead of all of us. I would like to at this point plead with you to be patient, screen thoroughly so that we can have the best of the best,” he said.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, had on Saturday, disclosed that 1,693 politicians comprising 145 governorship, 351 senatorial and 1,197 for the House of Representatives aspirants were screened at the two-day exercise.
Argungu disclosed that “we have 28 presidential aspirants so far. They will be screened on May 23, 2022.”
Skitmakers, comedians should collaborate not compete – Bovi
Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress
Popular comedian, Bovi Ugboma has stated that there should be no competition amongst skit makers and stand up comedians.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he said the two professions are similar yet different so they should collaborate instead of seeing themselves as competitors.
When asked if the rise of online skit makers have affected stand up comedians, he said, “Why should it affect them? They are two different crafts. We should learn to be more collaborative instead of competitive.
“Anytime I get that question, I get worried because what they do is online, and there is a market for it. What we do is offline and there is a market for it as well.
“They have a different genre, so we should encourage them and the fact that they can make money out of it. The fact that it is now a booming business is a plus to the entertainment industry.”
Bovi talked about what makes his crafts unique. He said, “I just do me and I make sure I always challenge and reinvent myself. I also constantly evolve so people would not get bored.
“If one does not reinvent oneself, people will find one predictable.”
