Millions lost as fire burns popular Apongbon market in Lagos

Vehicles and goods worth millions of naira have been gutted by fire under the Eko Bridge at Apongbon area of Lagos State.

The fire which started early Wednesday morning had burnt down the lock up shops and vehicles under the bridge, causing heavy traffic to motorists.

Movements have been diverted to other adjoin routes in and out of Lagos Island and Lekki due to the incident.

According to news reports, no life was lost in the fire which defied early efforts to put it out.

As at the time of filing this report, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria and Fire Service were seen clearing the rubbles and cordoning off the affected area.
