Divorce: Court Bars Wife Who Stripped Pastor In Public From Coming Near Him – Lifestyle Nigeria

An Ibadan Customary Court has granted the prayer for divorce by Pastor David Odeniyi from his wife, Bolanle, citing disturbing allegations of domestic violence and public humiliation.

The Pastor, a resident of Basorun, Ibadan, brought his case before the Mapo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court, detailing a pattern of physical abuse and emotional distress inflicted by his wife.

According to Pastor Odeniyi, Bolanle subjected him to physical attacks, including an incident where she stripped him naked during a church service, causing a scene among the congregation. He also alleged that she abandoned him and their child, traveling to Libya without his consent and remaining outside Nigeria for two years.

Despite previous attempts at reconciliation through legal channels, Pastor Odeniyi was forced to revisit the court due to Bolanle’s failure to amend her behavior. During the proceedings, Bolanle was noticeably absent when called to defend herself against the allegations, further complicating the matter.

Describing the anguish he endured, Pastor Odeniyi stated, “She pulls and drags my trousers to disgrace me. Had I known my wife would treat me like this, I would never have married her.”

Presiding over the case, the court’s President, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, acknowledged the gravity of the allegations and granted Odeniyi’s request for a divorce. Additionally, the court issued a restraining order against Bolanle, prohibiting her from further harassment or interference in her estranged husband’s private life.

BREAKING: Ayu Withdraws Lawsuit Challenging Removal As PDP Chair

Latest Politics updatein nigeria

Lifestyle Nigeria gathered that the suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu, has withdrawn a lawsuit challenging his removal from the party to pave the way for the former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, to replace him as the party’s substantive Chairman.

The lawsuit is believed to have impeded the PDP from having a substantive National Chairman since 2023 when a High Court sitting in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, stopped Ayu from parading himself as the party’s leader.

In a notice of withdrawal of appeal tagged CA/MK/88/2024 SUIT NO: MHC/85/2023 dated April 15, made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday, the Court of Appeal of nigeria in Makurdi, Benue State capital, revealed that Ayu has withdrawn the appeal against the respondents filed on the 27th day of June 2023 via Notice of Appeal dated the 26th day of June 2023.

The lawsuit was between Ayu (Appellant) and Engr. Terhide Utaan and the PDP as the respondent.

Fuel Subsidy Back, Costlier Than Before – El-Rufai

The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said the Federal Government was now paying more for fuel subsidy than before.

El-Rufai disclosed this while speaking with newsmen after delivering the lead paper at a capacity-building workshop on Enhancing Skills of Government Officials in Policy Implementation and Productive Human Resource Management for political appointees in Maiduguri on Monday.

He said, “The federal government is now subsidizing fuel; many people don’t know this.”

Applauding the policy, El-Rufai added, “It is a right policy. I have always supported the withdrawal of oil subsidy; but in the course of implementing the policy, the government realised that subsidy has to be back; right now, government is paying a lot of money for subsidy, even more than before.

“You start implementing a policy because you are absolutely sure it is the right policy, but in the course of implementation, you come across bottlenecks, and you modify.

“The keyword in leadership, in my view, is pragmatism. You should be pragmatic. So when you make a policy, you start implementing it, and it doesn’t seem to work well. You should have the humility to stand back and say this is not working, and you modify it.”
