Nigerian fans and celebrities are sharing heartfelt condolences to popular radio presenter and actress, Tosyn Bucknor, who died on November 19.
YNaija reports that Tosyn Bucknor was found unconscious by her husband, Aurelien Boyer, after returning from work on Monday night. According to her sister, Funke Bucknor Obruthe, she passed away due to complications from sickle cell.
Announcing the sad news on her Instagram page, she said:
Hmmmmm…My heart is heavy…but in all things we give thanks to God. My darling sister and besto Tosyn passed away last night due to complications from sickle cell.
While the entire entertainment industry mourns her death, it is imperative to remember that Tosyn lived a full and accomplished life. As one of the most influential media personalities from the past decade, she won several awards for her work including The Future Awards and Nigerian Broadcaster’s Award. Known as the “Voice of Lagos”, her she resonated with young Nigerians with her morning broadcast on Top Radio and Inspiration FM.
Additionally, she also spent her life raising awareness for sickle cell anaemia through ‘These Genes Project’, which she founded in 2007. As soon as the news of her death broke, fans and celebrities have shared emotional tributes mourning the loss. Banky W described her as “one of his favourite people on earth”, while Johnny Drille called her a “beacon of hope for us”.
