Getting hitched at any Nigerian Marriage Registry establishes that you are legally bound as so it deserves as much attention as the white and traditional weddings- if not more. Here are the 3 important things you’ll need on the D-day.
We pay so much attention to the Traditional and White wedding requirements forgetting probably the most important of all- registry. Only the certificate received during the court wedding makes you legally married.
Here are the 3 important things you’ll need to get married at any Nigerian marriage registry
1. Two witnesses, one on behalf of you and the other on behalf of your spouse.
You’ll need 2 witnesses, one to sign for you and one for your husband. It can be your friend, sibling, parent or relative. Just someone above 18 years of age.
2. Be properly dressed.
You will not be attended to if you are not correctly dressed for your court wedding. Here is the standard dress code for registry.
3. Of course your wedding rings
They call it a token to exchange your vows. You can buy cheap rings to use pending the time you do your white wedding or you can use the rings you intend to use for your white wedding and reuse during the wedding.
Please note that the steps above only apply after your documentation has been completed.
