Laminu Saminu, a teacher in Katsina, has been detained on charges of poisoning one Sanusi Bawa, an NSCDC officer in Katsina state. Saminu is 29 years old.
Saminu’s close friend Bawa was also one of his classmates in his final year at the Federal College of Education (FCE) in Katsina.
SP Gambo Isah, the spokesman for the State Police Command, stated in a statement that a teacher from the Bakin Kasuwa quarters, Mani Local Government Area of Katsina, brought the victim to an uncompleted structure in the area and poisoned him.

They also said that Saminu stole Bawa’s car afterwards.
After having the victim park his car, the suspect invited him into the unfinished building and gave him a drink of “Fura da nono”, laced with poison.
The officer drank the Fura and passed out.
Accordingly, the culprit drove the fatal blow by repeatedly striking the victim in the skull with a piece of wood.
The police report states, “He then threw the corpse inside a well in the house and covered it with sand.” The teacher allegedly poisoned his friend and then disposed of the body in this manner.
The police said that Saminu afterwards took Bawa’s car.
Police found out the suspect had contacted the deceased man’s wife and urged her to obtain the car papers.
Isah claimed the police had located and arrested the perpetrator, who had admitted to committing the crime.
The suspect had the deceased man’s Volkswagen Golf Saloon with the licence plate AA 266 KUF, a packet of rat poison and some firewood, he said.
The investigation, he said, was underway, and criminal charges will be filed against the suspect.
