Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress
The Social Democratic Party has distanced itself from a report currently in circulation purported to be the outcome of its governorship primary in Osun State.
Describing the information as “fake”, the Election Committee Chairman, Barr. Joseph Achilles Abu, said the report didn’t emanate from him or any member of his committee.
Recall that four aspirants had participated in the party’s primary on Saturday.
Among them were Rasaq Taiwo Adejumo, the former councilor in Odo-Otin Local Government that won the election on the platform of SDP in the 3rd Republic and Chairman of Odo-Otin Local Government during Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s tenure in the State.
Others were Architect Goke Omigbodun, a clergy and proprietor of a school in Osogbo, educationist and business guru in Osogbo, Dr Gbenga Afeni and Mr Ajao Abdulwaheed Ayo.
Achilles said although the exercise was smooth, the outcome wasn’t announced at the venue due to the dangerous and volatile invasion of unaccredited persons.
He, however, assured that a report has been submitted to the National Working Committee of the party which contains the actual results of the primary.
The Osun governorship election is scheduled for July 16.
