A police constable has been dismissed by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for his alleged activities in the Junior Vikings Confraternities.

Constable  Mfon Esio’s dismissal was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State CSP Frederick Nnudam in a statement on Thursday.

Nnudam said the embattled constable was fingered in the said cult initiation in which one Ubong John William ‘m’ was allegedly abducted to a bush along Marina Road, Eket and was forcefully initiated into the cult group.

He said the constable was subjected to orderly room trial where he was found guilty of the offence and was dismissed immediately from the Force noting that, that would serve as a deterrent to others of his like in the Force.

Nnudam also said the Command has nabbed 12 notorious cultists in different locations of the state and the following exhibit were recovered from them: Ten (10) locally made pistols, Four hundred (400) live cartridges.

Ten expended cartridges. Fifteen machetes, five axes, wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine and Items suspected to be charms.

The Police PRO noted that the State Commissioner of Police had warned that any person or persons no matter how highly placed who involved in cultism or other crimes will be promptly arrested and prosecuted accordingly. [Daily Post]
