Brace yourselves for another colourful, Northern affair.
The Hausa/Fulani culture is very rich and one important way they express the richness of their culture is through weddings. Their traditional marriage rites have several phases, one of which is called the ‘Yini‘.
This is a merry-making occasion where friends and relatives dine and rejoice with the bride and is usually conducted at the bride’s house. During such occasions, one can see women trooping to the house of the bride to assist and rejoice with them. Conducting these ceremonies at home accords every woman the opportunity to participate regardless of her economic or educational status. There is no free mixing of the opposite sex then because it is purely a women affair.
Recently, beautiful bride Munira Umar had her Yini with her female friends and family and Udimee Photography shared with us some of the lovely pictures.
