Civil servants in the state of Imo will be able to pick up their permanent voter cards (PVCs) on the 26th and 27th of January, thanks to the state’s decision to declare both days holidays throughout the state.
This was said in a statement released on Thursday and signed by Declan Emelumba, the commissioner for information and strategy.
Emelumba argued that the inhabitants’ increased engagement in the elections was made possible by the time off from work.
To avoid being disenfranchised in the upcoming election, he urged the people of Imo to make wise use of the days.
“Much as the government doesn’t want you to be disenfranchised, we urge you to utilise these two days and obtain your permanent voters’ cards from your various collection centres,” he said.
“This will enable you to exercise your franchise and vote for candidates of your choice in February elections.”
