BOMBSHELL: PDP NWC Members Return N177m Alleged Bribe Money

PDP crisis takes another dimension as NWC members allegedly return over N177 m paid to them during the last party Presidential Primary.

Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike insisted on bribery allegations against PDP chairman , Iyorchia Ayu.

The crisis in PDP has deepened as six members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party returned N177.6 millions paid into their accounts as bribes by the party’s leadership.

Those who have returned the alleged bribe paid to them from the “proceeds of the N10bn sale of nomination forms” include the Deputy National Chairman (South), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, who refunded N36m to the party’s account; National Vice Chairman South-South, Chief Dan Orbih (N28m) and National Woman Leader, Prof. Stella Effah-Attoe (N28m).

Others are: National Vice Chairman South-East, Dr Alli Odefa (N28m); National Vice Chairman South-West, Olasoji Adagunobi-Oluwatukesi (N28m) and Deputy National Secretary, Setonji Koshoedo (N28m).

FG to prosecute Zinox boss, Ekeh, wife over alleged fraud

Nigeria’s federal government has charged Leo Stan Ekeh, chairman of Zinox Group, his wife, Chioma and 11 other suspects to court over alleged N170.3 million contract fraud.

On September 9, 2022, Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana, filed a 17-count charge against the suspects in suit No. FCT/HC/CR/469/2022 at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

The charge was filed on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, following the approval he granted to Falana’s request for fiat/powers to prosecute the suspects.

No date has been fixed yet for the commencement of the trial.

 

Apart from Ekeh and his wife, other suspects Falana listed in the charge sheet for the prosecution included Chris Eze Ozims, the Legal Adviser/Company Secretary, Zinox Group and Technologies Distributions Limited (TD); Folashade Oyebode, a director in TD and Charles Adigwe, the Accountant with TD.

Others included the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of both Ad’mas Technologies Limited and Pirovic Engineering Services Limited, Onny Igbokwe, and his accomplice, Princess O. Kama.

Also, listed in the charge sheet are Technologies Distributions Limited (TD), Ad’mas Technologies Limited and Pirovic Engineering Services Limited, three companies indicted by police investigations into the matter.

In 2013, the Managing Director of Citadel Oracle Concepts Limited, an Ibadan-based ICT retail firm, Benjamen Joseph, petitioned the Police to complain about the fraud uncovered against his company allegedly perpetrated by the suspects.

Joseph said the fraud involved a N170.3 million contract for the supply of computer systems awarded by Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to his company in 2012, which was hijacked by suspects and executed using his company’s name without his knowledge and consent.

The businessman said the suspects also conspired to forge his signature on a fake Board of Directors resolution used to facilitate the opening of a fictitious account No. 0059202675 with Access Bank PLC for the payment of the proceeds of the fraud.

Although investigations by the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigerian Police Force were concluded since 2014 and a prima-facie case established against the suspects, Joseph said the police refused to prosecute the suspects.

Initial investigations by the SFU of the Federal Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) indicted eight persons. But Falana listed 11 suspects in the charge sheet accompanying the application seen by our reporter on Thursday in Abuja.

However, in a letter to the AGF confirming the filing of the charge, Falana said findings by his law chambers revealed that at least 13 persons were found to have played various roles in the alleged fraud in 2012.

Joseph had accused the suspects of deploying all sorts of devious means, including the manipulation of the courts, the police and anti-graft agencies to evade trial.

On May 8, 2015, Joseph said he petitioned the then Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, to highlight his company’s frustration to get the police to transfer the case file to the DPP for the prosecution of the suspects.

However, Arase refused to take action against the suspects. Rather he said Arase advised that the civil case he filed against the suspects should be allowed to run its full course before the criminal case to avoid the miscarriage of justice.

NECO releases 2022 SSCE results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2022 June/July Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).

Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, NECO Registrar/Chief Executive Officer who announced the release on Thursday in Minna, Niger State, said the results were released just 45 days after the last paper was written by school-based candidates.

He said candidates can access their results on NECO website: www.neco.gov.ng using their examination registration numbers.

Wushishi said the number of candidates that registered for the examination was 1,209,703, with 636,327 males, representing 52.60% and 573,376 females, representing 47.39%, while the number of candidates that actually sat for the examination was 1,198,412, with 630,180 males representing 52.58% and 568,232 females representing 47.41%

He said, “Number of candidates who made Credit and above in English Language is 889,188 representing 74.89%.

“Number of candidates who made Credit and above in Mathematics is 929,140 representing 78.23%.

“Number of candidates who made five (5) Credits and above including English Language and Mathematics is 727,864 representing 60.74%. When compared to 2021 SSCE (Internal) figures of 878,925 (71.64%) there is a decrease of 10.9%.

“Number of candidates who made five (5) Credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics is 1,011,457 representing 84.40%. When compared to 2021 SSCE (Internal) figures of 1,153,716 (94.04% ) there is a decrease of 9.64%.

“Number of candidates involved in various forms of malpractice in 2022 is 13,594 representing 0.13% as shown in Tables 4 and 4A. Whereas 20,003 representing 1.63% cases were recorded in 2021.”

The Registrar reiterated that the Council has a long-standing tradition for zero tolerance for examination malpractices, saying that malpractice incidence in 2022 has dropped, compared to the figure in 2021.

He noted that 29 Supervisors were blacklisted for various offences ranging from poor supervision, insult, aiding and abetting, during the examinations.

The NECO boss also announced that the backlog of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Certificates from 2012-2021 will soon be ready for distribution to schools.

“In the same vein, the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificates for 2020 and 2021 will equally be ready by the end of October 2022.

Chibuike Amaechi Angry, May Reject Tinubu’s Campaign Council Appointment 

Naija News NG has gathered that Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi may reject the appointment into the Campaugn Council of Bola Tinubu .

An insider has revealed that Chibuike Amaechi who came second at the APC Primary is agrieved over some decisions made by the party . The immediate past Minister of Transportation was listed as Special Adviser on Infrastructure of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

The insider has revealed that he feels left out and was not consulted before the appointment, adding that he may even reject the offer .

Also he revealed that Amaechi feels very offended by the unholy romance between Bola Tinubu and Governor Nyesom Wike, his political rival in Rivers State.

Asked if the former Governor was elated to be appointed as a member of the APC campaign council, the source responded; “Elated over what? Are You talking about someone who with the help of very few others removed the PDP and Goodluck Jonathan from power in 2015?

Minister of Labour and Employment and Director of Public Affairs and Chief Spokesperson Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo (SAN) on Wednesday described as delusional an opinion poll by Bloomberg News which placed Peter Obi as the leading candidate in the race to become Nigeria’s next President.

The presidential election scheduled for February next year is expected to be a three-horse race between Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the All Progressives Congress’ Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar.

According to Bloomberg, a clear majority of respondents to the opinion poll said they intend to vote for Obi, former Anambra State governor as the next president.

Responding, Keyamo in a tweet on his official Twitter handle said “The report of @BloombergAfrica said it used an APP to conduct an opinion poll in Nigeriawhere more than 95% don’t have access to such apps”.

“This style is even lower in credibility than when you send people to the field. This is the most delusional poll I have seen since I was born”.
