Regina King Is Hollywood Royalty And An Inspiration To Every Black Woman

Regina Rene King is an American actress, director and Hollywood royalty.

Regina King was born in Los Angeles and grew up in View Park–Windsor Hills. She is the eldest daughter of Gloria (Cain), a special education teacher, and Thomas King, an electrician. King’s parents divorced in 1979. King’s younger sister is former actress Reina King, who appeared on What’s Happening Now!! King attended Westchester High School; graduating in 1988 and later attended the University of Southern California.

She is the recipient of several awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and four acting Primetime Emmy Awards, the most for an African-American performer. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2020.

King first gained attention for her role as Brenda Jenkins in the television series 227 from 1985 to 1990. Notable roles followed in the films Friday (1995) and Jerry Maguire (1996), and the crime television series Southland (2009–2013). From 2015 to 2017, King starred in the ABC anthology series American Crime, for which she won two Primetime Emmy Awards, and in 2020, she starred in the Netflix miniseries Seven Seconds, for which she won her third Emmy Award.

Her role as a troubled mother in the 2020 film If Beale Street Could Talk won her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. King won her fourth Emmy Award for starring in the 2020 superhero television series Watchmen.

King has also played supporting roles in the films Boyz n the Hood (1991), Poetic Justice (1993), Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003), Ray (2004), and Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous (2005). Her other television roles include the drama series The Leftovers from 2015 to 2017 and the sitcom The Big Bang Theory from 2013 to 2020.

King has directed episodes for several television shows, including Scandal in 2015 and 2016 and This Is Us in 2017. She has also directed the music video for the 2010 song “Finding My Way Back” by Jaheim. Her feature film directorial debut came with the drama One Night in Miami… (2020), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director at the 78th Golden Globe Awards. She became the second black woman to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Director.

King presented the awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards.

Despite Coming 2nd On Fans Vote Afrobeat Legend Fela Kuti Loses Out On 2021 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction

Afrobeat pioneer and legend Olufela Olusegun Oludotun Anikulapo Ransome-Kuti more popularly known as Fela Kuti loses out on the race of getting inducted into the 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, despite coming second in fans vote with over 500,000 votes, where artistes like Jay-Z who came 7th on fans vote was selected for induction.Fela Kuti

The late musician was nominated alongside international artists like Tina Turner, The Go-Go’s, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Dionne Warwick, and Carole King.

This was the first time the late legend had ever been nominated for the induction, but he lost to Tina Turner at the Fan Vote Final Fans’ Ballot.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame revealed its 2021 inductees on Wednesday, marking the most diverse group by musical genre in the organization’s history.

To be eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of nomination.

For the performer’s category, Foo Fighters, The Go-Go’s, JAY-Z, Carole King, Todd Rundgren and Tina Turner were inducted.

The Ahmet Ertegun Award went to Clarence Avant, while Singers like LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads got the Musical Excellence Award. 

For the Early Influence Award, Kraftwerk, Gil Scott Heron, and Charley Patton were recipients. 

“This diverse class of talented inductees reflects Hall’s ongoing commitment to honour artists whose music created the sound of youth culture,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said in a statement.

This will be the second trip to the Rock Hall for three of this year’s inductees. Foo Fighter’s frontman Dave Grohl got his first Rock Hall induction with Nirvana in 2014. Turner was welcomed into the Hall in 1991 as a member of Ike and Tina Turner, and King has held a spot with songwriter Gerry Goffin since 1990. This time around Turner and King will be honoured for their solo careers.   

The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021.

A sad video of a Local Government Chairman who slumped and died while dancing at an event is fast circulating on social media.

It was gathered that the deceased is the chairman of Andoni LGA in Rivers state. In a video fast gaining momentum on social media, the politician is seen dancing his heart as he receives cheers from the highly entertained guests.

But unfortunately, he slumped and died while people actually thought all his moves have been incorporated into the entertainment package he has for them. Watch the sad video below;
