RRS Seeks Collaboration With Other Security Agencies

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad has emphasised the importance of synergy among agencies of government involved in emergency response services as an avenue for enhancing security and rescue operations in the State.

The Commander of RRS, ACP Olatunji Disu revealed in a statement released in Alausa that collaboration of the security outfit with other agencies such as the Fire Service and the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) led to the prompt rescue of victims of fire incidents and building collapse in Lagos last month.

Disu revealed that an immediate response to a distress call by the RRS in May facilitated the rescue of 20 fire victims and 13 accidents victims at various locations in the State.

Citing the positive results of synergy among the agencies of government, the RRS Commander said that upon receipt of a distress call about a fire incident at 22, Bello Street, Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba earlier this year, RRS operatives swiftly contacted the fire service, barricaded the area to keep hoodlums at bay and ensured the inferno was successfully put off.

He said the RRS, in conjunction with the Lagos State Fire Service, similarly quelled a raging fire behind Olumegbon Palace, Ajah, confirming that “RRS vehicles were dispatched to the scene following a distress call received at 15:00hrs on May 7 this year and evacuated all persons to safety. No life was lost”.

ACP Disu asserted that the harmony between the State anti-crime outfit and other emergency rescue agencies of government also aided the quick termination of fire incidents at Itohan Avenue, Off Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja; John Street, Idumota, Lagos Island; Obanle-Aro Crescent, Off Town Planning Way, Ilupeju and Jakande Estate, Lekki, Phase One respectively.

The statement revealed further that RRS and LASAMBUS jointly rescued accidents victims involved in a serious motor accident while commuting from Ikeja to Agege, stressing the State government remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents through the provision of efficient and instantaneous service delivery.

The statement assured that the present administration, through the Rapid Response Squad, will continually harness the cordial relationship that exists between the Emergency Rescue groups in Lagos to guarantee that prompt attention is given to fire, building collapse and road accident victims in all local governments and local council development areas of the State.
