The 21st edition of the ceremony celebrating achievements in entertainment and honors music, sports, television, and movies, BET Awards, established by Black Entertainment Television is set to go down on Sunday 27th June, 2021.
The American award show founded in 2001 will be airing virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. ET on BET, the same way it did last year, and the organisers have released the full list of nominees.
The 20th edition of the BET Awards had taken place on the 28th of June 2020 with most awards, 2 each, carted home by Beyoncé, ?Chris Brown?, ?Roddy Rich and Megan Thee Stallion.? The event hosted by Amanda Seales saw Drake have the most nominations – 6 in total.

For the 21st edition, Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby are among the top contenders as each of the duo who are both previous winners received a whopping seven nominations for the upcoming ceremony. Other top nominees in the music categories include Cardi B and Drake, who received five nods apiece while Anderson Paak, Bruno Mars, Chloe x Halle and Chris Brown, each earning four BET Award nominations.
In the acting categories, late Black Panther star Boseman, who also took home a BET Award in 2020, was nominated for his leading role in the film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. His co-star Viola Davis received a nod for Best Actress while the movie itself was nominated for Best Movie.

Other nominated actors and actresses include Zendaya, Jurnee Smollett and Daniel Kaluuya.
In the sports categories, Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, LeBron James and Patrick Mahomes were all nominated for the best sportswoman and man of the years, amongst a few others. See the full list of nominees below:
