The Senate has authorised its Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters to connect with the Office of the attorney General of the Federation, to start the process of examining the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004.
This was following a motion by APC’s Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (Borno Central) during the plenary earlier today.
While leading the argument on his motion, Shehu clarified that the statutes in the LFN were approved in different years before and after Nigeria’s independence despite the fact that they were all cited as “LFN 2004”.
He added that the LFN has remained unexamined for almost two decades, with the implication that the laws approved in Nigeria from January 1st, 2003 were kept out of compilation.
