Nigerian songstress, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems has finally received the highly sought-after Grammy award plaque for her remarkable accomplishments in the music industry.
Glamsquad recalls that Tems achieved a significant milestone by winning the esteemed Best Melodic Rap Performance award at the 65th Grammys, which took place on 6th February 2023.
The music star’s accomplishment stemmed from her collaboration with American singers Future and Drake on the track ‘Wait For U.’
Tems manager, manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, took to his Instagram story to announce the arrival of the highly-anticipated Grammy award plaque.
Tems made history as the first female Nigerian artist to secure a Grammy award. This achievement comes as another remarkable milestone, following her groundbreaking Grammy nomination the previous year, where she became the first female Nigerian singer to receive such recognition.
Tems’ nomination in the Best Global Performance category for her acclaimed collaboration with fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid on the hit song ‘Essence’ garnered international acclaim and further solidified her status as a rising global star.
