Stakeholders in the health sector have called on the Accountant General of the Federation to urgently release the $4 million budget approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for the procurement of family planning commodities.
They made the call yesterday during a retreat organised by the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) in Lagos to review the draft national and state scorecards on the RMNCAEH+N Recovery plan, COVID-19 and Health Security Accountability.

The RMNCAEH+N Recovery Plan during COVID-19 accountability scorecard was developed through analysis of the 2022 federal government-approved budget, review and validation meetings, and independent monitoring of the activities of the RMNCAEH+N National Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Coordination Platform.
A statement from AHBN said the scorecard reported three categories; governance and leadership, budgetary allocation and disbursement; as well as accountability and transparency.
Chairman, National Advocates for Health (NA4H), Mohammed Usman, said non-governmental organizations, advocates and other critical stakeholders must find a way of talking to the government, the Ministry of Finance and in particular, the office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) for the release of approved budgets.
