Tensions flare as Ten Hag and Manchester United star clash

Latest entertainment gist

Manchester United faced a trip to St. James’ Park which was marred by evident friction between manager Erik ten Hag and player Anthony Martial during Saturday’s clash against Newcastle United.

Fresh from a disappointing 3-3 draw with Galatasaray in the Champions League, United found themselves in a precarious position, languishing at the bottom of Group A with only four points, facing potential elimination from the tournament.

Ten Hag opted for significant changes, bringing in Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to replace Antony and Rasmus Hojlund from the midweek lineup. However, it was Martial who seemed to irk the Dutch coach during the first half.

Reports from Samuel Luckhust of the Manchester Evening News detailed an on-field confrontation between Ten Hag and Martial, where gestures and exchanged words indicated visible frustration between the two.

Dwight Yorke, a former United striker and Bein SPORTS pundit, expressed bewilderment over Martial’s lackluster performance, stating, “27 years-old and playing for your career. I’m scratching my head why his [Martial] energy levels are so low.”

Despite Martial’s recent league goal against Everton, his role as a backup to Hojlund, who arrived from Atalanta in the summer, seems uncertain. Martial’s contract, set to expire next summer, suggests a likely departure after a nine-year stint at Old Trafford.

“I almost quit my career because of body shaming…”

Latest entertainment gist

Popular on-air personality Toolz shares how she was bodyshamed because of her body type.

Toolz disclosed in a lengthy note on her page how she was being body-shamed because of her body type.

In her words, “ So let me tell you about how I almost quit my whole career because of body shaming. My job as a presenter at Beat FM was the first time I experienced life in the public eye. Initially the attention was positive, then the negative attention started – and it was bad. I mean very bad. Someone would disagree with something I said on-air and it would descend into body shaming”.

“My breaking point happened one morning when I woke up and found out I was trending on (then) Twitter. I trended while I was asleep! It had been a tough week, and waking up to all sorts of horrible body shaming posts made me think that perhaps this career wasn’t for me. I just wasn’t used to all the negativity and at that point quitting seemed to be a great idea. At least that way, I wouldn’t have to deal with all the horrible criticism”.

“A day or two later, I thought about it some more and realised that I didn’t make the move to Lagos to let some trolls bully me out of a job, and many years later, I’m so glad I didn’t quit”.

“Honestly, whether you’re big, small, curvy, slim,
have a big booty, no booty, tall, short, someone somewhere will find something wrong with you.
What truly matters is what you think of yourself. You need to remember to keep trying to be the best version of yourself. And whatever changes you make should be foryou, not to keep a man like “aunty’ put it.”
