Every now and then, some of our favourite Nigerian musicians feature in Nollywood movies.

From cameos to feature length performances, it’s always interesting to see musicians feature in Nollywood movies. These musicians either turn in a shoddy, watchable, or an award-winning performance.

Because we totally understand how easy it is to miss out on epic celebrity acting debuts, we’ve put together a list of 12 Nigerian musicians who have featured in Nollywood movies.

1. 2Baba in Head Gone

The legend made his acting debut in the 2006 movie The Twist and followed up the success with roles in 2014 movies,  Make a Move and Head Gone.

2. Ice Prince in House of Gold

In this Ghanaian film, he .ed the character Tony, a cover-up lover. We don’t know when next he would appear on our screens, but just in case you didn’t know, he’s got a biopic in the works and it’s titled Me Versus Me. 

3. Seyi Shay in Lara and the Beat 

Seyi Shay got to make her acting debut in one of the most star-studded movies of 2018, Lara and the Beat. We can’t wait to see more of her!

4. Peter Okoye in Lionheart

We are yet to see this one, but from the trailer, it seems Peter .s Genevieve Nnaji’s love interest, and we really can’t wait to see him in action! In case you didn’t know, Lionheart also features our other fave, Phyno.

5. Omawumi in In the Music

Omawumi is one singer we’ve enjoyed watching in films such as In the Music, House of Gold, Make a Move and Inale. We think she is a fantastic actress and we want more of her movies!

6. Vector in June

Vector made his acting debut in the 2017 romantic drama titled June. He followed it up with a lead role in the 2018 movie, Lara and the Beat.

7. Falz in New Money

Falz is the only artiste with not one, but two AMVCAs. And from the look of things, there’s no stopping him! Ever since he made his acting debut in the romantic drama Couple of Days, he has won several hearts with his roles in New Money and Jenifa’s Diary. You already know how excited we are about his upcoming movie, Chief Daddy. 

8. Banky W in The Wedding Party

Banky W didn’t only get to make his debut alongside his beautiful wife, Adesua Etomi in The Wedding Party, the movie also became the highest grossing Nollywood movie of 2016. We will get to see him next in the upcoming movie Up North, and we really can’t wait!

9. Davido in John Zerebe

We bet you didn’t know, but OBO made his acting debut in 2015 movie John Zerebe, alongside Gloria Young,  Kanfui Danku and Mimi Orjiekwe.

10. Tiwa Savage in Shuga Naija

You’ve got to agree that Tiwa did a great job with her role as Sade in the third season of MTV’s hit series, Shuga. We wanted more of her on our screens and were excited when she returned with a cameo in Jenifa’s Dairy. 

11. Waje in The Tunnel

Waje followed up her debut in the 2014 movie The Tunnel with a role in one of the biggest Nigerian TV series, Battleground, and we think she sabi this acting thing!

12. Arese Emokpae in Jemeji

Arese won our hearts when she won the first season of The Voice Nigeria. Months later, she awed us with her performance in Africa Magic’s Jemeji. We can’t wait to see more of her on our screens!
