These Are The Ladies Who Got The Maximalist Memo At The #SPICEHonours Awards

Maximalism has been a leading fashion trend for a while now and the #SPICEHonors black carpet was not left out. And the ladies came through dripping!

The Spice Lifestyle Honors held last night and it was evident festive season style is already in full swing from the bold styles celebrities stepped out in. Your favourite celebrities and socialites ditched their “I’m just going there to chill” mantra and stepped out in the most glamorous pieces all detailed to the teeth. Even our favourite edgy minimalist siblings, Eku Edewor and Kessiana Thorley switched things up and we are still in awe at their take! See maximalist looks that caught our attention from the #SPICEHonours:

Eki Ogunbor

All that popped into our minds about Eki in this DNA by Iconic Invanity piece is ‘regal’! Elements like the pleats, beading, collar, and the colours literally brought all the drama and you could feel her confidence oozing all over the place. The blogger really brought it with this multi-dimensional piece!

Fade Ogunro

Fade’s floor-length dress was heavily detailed with ruffles all-around. From the shoulders to the waist area and even the bottom part of the dress, no part was spared from the ruffle overdose! While we are not in the least crazy about the waist adornment we are here for the drama and we definitely got some!

Eku Edewor

Eku switched things up last night in an intricate black number from CLAN r-t-w. The presenter definitely got the all-out memo as her dress featured a double strap sleeve, body pleats, net, and fringe sequin. We love that she’s embracing maximalism in full spin!

Kessiana Thorley

The other half of our favourite edgy minimalist sibling stunned in a floral guipure dress from Tsemaye Binitie. The unusual geometric details on the dress knocked the look out of the park. This is quite a distinct take but we are not in the least surprised she brought it!

#SPICEHonours

Zynnell Zuh

The Ghanaian actor made her presence known in a gold strapless lace dress. The feathers and flower details were all the sass we needed and her killer pose just sealed the look. She definitely didn’t come to .!

Toke Makinwa also attended the Spice Honours in a full glam outfit. Check it out here!

36 Stylish Corporate Dresses with Serwaa Amihere

When millennials were children, back in the 1980s and 1990s, their parents wore suits to work if they had corporate or professional jobs: their fathers donned dress shirts and ties, and the padded shoulders on their mothers’ jackets made them look like fullbacks. It was the uniform of the day.

As corporate formality waned and dress codes grew less constraining, terms like business casual, smart casual and business chic entered the lexicon.

So much has changed and corporate dresses (office attire) are becoming more flexible and personalized while remaining professional. In this lookbook, we have Ghanaian TV personality @ghonetv and Brand Ambassador to @oh_my_hairr, Serwaa Amihere as she shows us how to look stunning and stylish in our workplace with gowns, skirt styles both in English and African prints.

When going to work, looking good should be your first aim, as a good appearance most times shows you mean business. Life as a Career Girl or woman is indeed exciting – chasing goals, striving for success, making personal achievements and feeling rewarded in and out of the office.

When your corporate or office dress or outfit is relegated to a few colors, a few cuts, and a whole lot of rules, you can start to feel disenfranchised from the Cool Work Outfit movement that’s happening right now.

Bright colors, bold prints, and super cuts (like bell sleeves, cropped hems, and off-the-shoulder shapes) are making office life a whole lot more fun for many professional women who work in a more casual office.

Use these stylish corporate dresses to add that smart, casual, tailored styles that will give your wardrobe a boost!

Our goal is to help you look stylish and classy while slaying in African prints and accessories. We hope that this lookbook can help inspire you as you go on to make an Asoebi style for yourself.
