Yesterday the Euro 2020 witnessed a major shock that threatened the continuity of the competition, this came during the game between Denmark against Finland when Inter Milan midfielder Christian Ericksen collapsed on the pitch and was left unconscious.
Though UEFA has announced that the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has been stabilized and is currently recovering after a major scarce. Ericksen seemed to have suffered a heart attack. The game was first suspended but was continued later, Danes lost the game 1 nil, with the win giving Finland its first win at a major international competition at its debut international footballing competition for its senior national team.

Later in the evening, Belgium showered just why it is considered one of the favourites to win the competition dispatching Russia by 3 goals to nothing with relative ease. Serie A’s most valuable player Romelu Lukaku scored a brace in the game while dedicating one of the goals to his clubmate Christian Ericksen who had collapsed on the pitch earlier in the day.
Today’s game will see England get its opportunity at getting its pound of flesh, for their world cup loss against Croatia from Russia in 2020. It is bound to be a tense game, between the experienced and hugely talented Croatian side against the young dynamic English side. If the English boys are to do anything significant at this tournament this game is the perfect start they need to lay down a mark.
