Nigerian wrestler Blessing Oborududu makes history winning Nigeria’s first medal in wrestling, after losing in the final of her wrestling bout at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Oborududu’s silver medal win is Nigeria’s second medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Blessings win is coming after earlier today, long jumper Ese Brume won the country’s first medal the competition winning a bronze medal.
Oborududu lost in the final 4-1 to her opponent USA’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock in the women’s freestyle 68kg weight category on Tuesday (today).

Oborududu, who is also the first-ever Nigerian to win an Olympics medal in wrestling, qualified for the final after defeating Mongolia’s Soronzonboldyn Battsetseg 7-2 in the semi-finals.
She had earlier defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova 3-2 in the quarter-finals, after seeing off Azerbaijan’s Elis Manolova in the Round of 16.

On her choice of Enugu as the location for the gallery, Aghasili explained that the state boasts a remarkable blend of arts and history, making it an ideal setting for her venture.
She said “We want to give artists the opportunity to be seen, heard, and discovered,” she stated.
