1. Jonathan Declares Position On 2023 Presidency After Visit By APC Governors
The camp of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has debunked rumours of plans by the former President to contest the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
The clarification was done amidst speculations that the former president is considering a return to power in 2023. The insinuation was further heightened after some governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) paid him a courtesy visit.
2. Court Orders Senator Ndume To Be Sent To Prison
Senator Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial district has been ordered on Monday by a federal high court to be sent to prison.
The order follows his inability to produce Abdulrasheed Maina, the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Task Team, whom he stood as surety for in his corruption and money laundering trial.
The high court, sitting in Abuja was presided over by Justice Okon Abang and ordered Senator Ndume to be remanded in Kuje correctional centre.
3. Petrol/Electricity Hike: Strike Not In Our Agenda Now – NLC
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other labour unions on Monday stated that strike was not an option following talks with the federal government on petroleum price increase and electricity tariff hike.
Naija News reports that labour leaders on Sunday evening walked out on a meeting with the federal government delegation.
