Train attack: Life worthless under APC – PDP

Factual Pursuit of Truth for Progress
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has claimed that the life of Nigerians under the watch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is worthless.
This is as the opposition condemned what it described as “vicious terrorists’ attack on innocent Nigerians travelling in a Kaduna state-bound train on Monday, March 28, 2022.”
The party said the successful ambush of the train on the Abuja-Kaduna service by terrorists who killed many Nigerians, and abducted scores of others in an operation that lasted for over an hour, again confirmed its stand that the security command and control coordination structure under President Buhari has collapsed.
“More alarming is the fact this particular attack took place within two days of the deadly terrorist attack on the Kaduna International Airport on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in the same Kaduna State controlled by an APC government,” the party stated.
According to the PDP, “the complicity of silence by the Buhari administration on the Saturday’s airport attack emboldened the terrorists to assault the train; a development which also validates PDP’s position that the APC administration has conceded sovereignty over parts of our country to terrorists.”
PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, Tuesday, said continued silence and obvious helplessness of the APC administration on these deadly attacks on the nation’s key transportation sectors raises apprehensions of possible complicity at the very top level.
The statement added: “It is callous and unfortunate that the APC government, in its usual insensitive nature attempted to suppress information by keeping mute over 24 hours after this horrendous attack which claimed the lives of promising Nigerians among whom was a young medical doctor, Dr. Chinelo Megafu who was fatally shot in the ill-fated train travel.
“Nigerians can recall the confession by a former APC leader that these assailants are terrorists brought from neighboring countries by the APC as “political mercenaries” to rig the 2020 general elections.
“In 2021 over 10,366 Nigerians were killed by terrorists with over 2,900 abductions in countless terrorism related attacks in which no fewer than 964 security agents were killed, as revealed by SB Morgen (SBM) Intelligence Report published in the Guardian Newspaper of Thursday, January 3, 2022.
“Those killed in 2021 represents a scary 47% increase in the 7063 massacred by terrorists in 2020.
“More alarming is that the killing spree has continued in 2022 unabated. More than 536 Nigerians have been killed by terrorists since the beginning of this year. In the first three weeks of January 2022, about 486 Nigerians were killed by terrorists as reported in Premium Times of Sunday, January 23, 2022.
“Again, only last week, 50 innocent Nigerians were reportedly hacked to death by terrorists in the same Kaduna State!
“This is beside the hundreds of Nigerians, including students who were abducted by terrorists with many of them still languishing in their abductors’ den.”

Court dissolves marriage over doubtful paternity

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos State has ordered the dissolution of the marriage between Mr. Jose Salami and Mrs. Sola Jaiyeola, on grounds of the doubtful paternity of their only child.
Vanguard reports that in a petition filed before the court, Salami, a resident of Number 9, Bakare St., Igando, Lagos State, said he doubted the paternity of the only child produced by the union.
“In March 2013, she said she was a month pregnant for me; so, I arranged for a traditional marriage to be done. But to my surprise, my wife put to bed in July of that same year, and when I asked how possible it was, she waived it aside.
The petitioner said that later, she told him to move on with his life as she was no longer interested in the marriage. He urged the court to dissolve the marriage, saying that he was approaching 50 years of age and needed to move on.
In his judgment, the President of the court, Adeniyi Koledoye, said that it appeared the love between the couple had since perished. He noted that the respondent did not show up in court in spite of several summons.
“There is no doubt that the respondent was in another relationship from which she was pregnant, and perhaps the pregnancy was rejected and she decided to hang it on the petitioner. However, the petitioner ought to have opted out of the marriage immediately he discovered that the paternity of the child was doubtful. It is clear the petitioner was deceived into the marriage by the respondent,” the judge held
Koledoye, therefore, dissolved the marriage and ordered the respondent to pay N200,000 to the petitioner.
