An armed shopper shot and killed a suspected carjacker after he opened fire at a busy Walmart store in Washington.
The bystander stepped in and shot the suspect in the parking lot of the store on Sunday afternoon leaving at least two people, including a 16-year-old girl injured before the attack was thwarted.
According to law enforcement officials, ‘an armed man attempted a carjacking, the driver of the car was shot and wounded. A 16-year-old girl also suffered minor wounds at a different location nearby. The driver was airlifted to a Seattle hospital and is said to be in critical condition’.
The carjacker allegedly got out of the first stolen car and tried to steal another vehicle, he then shot the driver before he was shot dead by an armed bystander.
Witnesses also reported hearing at least 10 gunshots. Darren Gossler, an eyewitness to the shooting, tweeted: ‘I was in the dairy section. Heard about 5 or 6 pops. Ran out a side emergency exit and attempted to run to my car in the parking lot but heard 4 more pops in the lot. Caught a quick glimpse of a male with what appeared to be a handgun. Ducked under some cars and ran to Costco.’
